Is anyone cleverer than me and capable of disconnecting (without flooding the kitchen) and moving a washing machine (I have a car to move it into, but the whole having a concrete base thing suggests I can't carry it to the car without some sort of wheely device)?

Unfort I need it moving tomorow and not really sure how to go about this, don't really want to leave it behind just because I can't get it out...

In other news, no-one wants to borrow a washing machine for a year do they?

There are two ways of disconnecting the washing machine depending on how it was piped in.
If it has a stopcock on the inlet pipe, turn that off (it might have something that looks like this instead http://www-4.plumbworld.co.uk/chrome-pl ... -1872l.jpg which needs turning off using a screw drivier (90 degrees rotation either way). Then drain any remaining water in the machine using the outlet (usually on the front at the very bottom) Pull out the machine.
Or turn off the household water using the stopcock. Disconnect and empty as above, BUT you need to seal the end of the inlet pipe or when you turn the water back on you'll have a major leak.

As far as moving it goes something on wheels and a few strong people helps get it over kerbs and door steps.
