I don't think I've ever seen him spend an evening not drinking since he moved in.

It's nothing to worry about. I drank a LOT as an undergrad, and I turned out alright.

Wait a minute......

Actually, there's your answer. Just tell Laurence that if he doesn't change his ways, he'll end up like me.

If that doesn't scare him away from drinking, I don't know what will.

(I'm drunk right now, by the way.......)
