Am I right in thinking that if Tony and Snap both have a mother (different mothers), you can say, "Tony and Snap's mums," with regard to the apostrophe? Do you consider 'Tony and Snap' as one singular entity?

Being a maths student I want to write, "(Tony and Snap)'s mums," but I don't think this ideal!!

I generally end up rephrasing it that way, but I'd just like to know.

Just checked and "Tony's and Snap's mums" is correct. But it sounds horrid, so use "Tony's mum and Snap's mum" instead. Or reorder the sentence. "Tony and Snap's mums" means "Tony and all many mums of Snap," which is not what you mean!

Also, what kind of name is Snap?!

Snap is a boy who loves Rice Crispies. Tony loves Frosties. They both appear in my dissertation.

Careful, or your name might go into it! A king gets sentenced to death, maybe it should be King Alek.
