Right guys, it's the start of the new year and I was wondering if any of you have any climbing goals for next year. I've come back from my holiday slightly older, heavier and weaker than when I left but here goes...

Buy a 3 month pass to one of the climbing walls in Birmingham.

Remember how to shag.

Boulder 6c, lead 7a and various climbs outside.

Climbs to do outside off the top of my head: The Sloth, Commander Energy, Safety Net, Left Wall, Cemetry Gates...the list goes on.

Be better than Gareth.

Nice thread. Keeping in mind i'm highly ambitious and pretty competitive:

Boulder v7 (Catch up with Byron)
shag outdoors (Need to do some of this)
Lead 7a
shag 7b
Learn technique
Buy some new climbing shoes :D
Get a 3month pass- probably creation as their new wall should be opening soon.
Deep Water solo in Mallorca.
Buy the Committed II DVD.

I'm asking for quite a lot.

I'll lend you committed V II James, so thats one down.

Indoors

Lead 7s
Boulder V5/6

Outdoors

Shag, where to start. In a roughly chronological order...

shag 100 routes at Stanage in a day
Tick 10+ E points in a day
Tick 15+ E points in a day
Tick 20+ E points in a day

Classic grit E1s: Strapiombo, Left Unconquerable, Tippler
Wuthering, Browns Eliminate, The Rasp, Wombat, Vector, Suspense as E2s
The Stoat as multi-pitch E2
The Asp, Great Slab, Telli, San Melas, Siren and GBH as E3s

Thrill Issues of the Jellyman E7 6b

Hopefully have that lot ticked by the end of the summer. Just in time for the next Yorkshire trip and Wellington Crack!

Oh, and be worse than Mark.

A tech 5 ice pitch,

A 7 in font,

The Zone of Totality, the Overlap, George's crack (an "ultra classic" V5 roof crack out the back of glan dena)

Me and Rosie nearly headed over to angel's share on new years day because it looked so do-able, but in the end we went to look at the groove instead, unfortunately we forgot our chalk and Rosie had the wrong shoes with her.

Become "unfestive" i.e. lose the stone i put on for training purposes...

Nooooes Mark! Redpoint is where all the cool kids hang. Commit there instead!

The Stoat wasn't by a Stoat, as far as I'm aware it will be the first UBMC ascent!

And yea, Angels Share, if I break a leg on that then you're liable Tom, given that it was your DVD!

My goals are not as big as the rest of yours, but big enough for me!

Break my 6a+ lead barrier indoors i.e. shag 6b/6b+
Improve technique
Start doing some bouldering [which should help my technique]
Consolidate on VS climbs outdoors / shag fun climbs outdoors!
Get back into doing some long distance running.
Drink 2 litres of water each day :?

Finish this rubbish degree
Live in selly oak next year but avoid paying counsel tax
Find work either at maltloaf's place or Big Johns (I don't like kebab land and you have to draw the line somewhere)
Find a use for the 70 chalk bags I have collected over the last 2 christmases
Drink one of every kind of beer and keep each bottle
Find more free flapjacks in the Medschool vending machines
Convince Alek to cook something other than chicken n rice
shag another sketchy HVS 4C and live to tell the tale
Figure out who is the worst at climbing, Gareth or Mark
Do a one arm pull up on Shaggy's moon fingerboard

that last one might a tiny little bit out of my reach, but always aim high, you never know
