Hi guys

I'm an ex UBMC member (did medicine 2003-2008) and have recently made an android phone app on Acute Mountain Sickness as part of the post grad mountain medicine diploma.

Thought it might be of use to some of you particularly if you are planning an Alps trip. Just search 'Mountain Sickness Scorer' on the google play store.

Spread the word! Altitude sickness is completely preventable but unfortunately still kills. The risks start at altitudes over 2500 metres so you can be affected even in Europe.

cheers

Hi Fiona,

Looks good. Thanks! I know its a bit random but i'm a medical student and was wondering if you had your elective involved with expedition medicine / near some mountains. I literally have no clue where to go, but would love to do something related. Cheers!

Jordan, there is an expedition mountaineers group in Birmingham and two friends of mine went on elective in (I think it was) Bhutan so if you need I can put you in touch with them? I think Rachel (the GEC, mountaineering loving one) went along to a meet of theirs so she might be a good person to talk to about maybe getting involved with them
Think this is them http://www.bmres.org/
