Just got this message, the link to the survey is at the bottom. Looks quite interesting...
Hi there,
I'm Mark, a third year student at Newcastle University doing my dissertation. I'm a keen climber, so am designing an outdoor climbing application for smartphones (specifically iPhone and Android for first concept) focusing on locating local outdoor and indoor climbs using GPS and aggregating reviews of these climbs.
I need to canvas opinion across the UK to gather insights into whether this is a valid idea, how people envisage using their smartphones for this purpose and which features create value.
One key question I have is whether a smartphone guide can and will replace the traditional guidebook. To some a guidebook is a personal memento, which you take to all climbs, and a smartphone can't replace this emotional attachment.
Would you be happy to email my online survey out to your members? I'll send out a new climbing harness, or something nice to one lucky winner so hopefully this will encourage people to participate.
I look forward to your response.
Many thanks and kind regards,
Mark
