Scotland 2014-15

Winter is coming, and that can only mean that so is the annual UBMC incursion into the snowy mountains of Scotland!

Join us from the 27th December 2014 to the 3rd January 2015 for a week of ice climbing, mountain walking, and whisky tasting, as well as spending New Year’s Eve in a wash of whisky, kilts, and ceilidh dancing at the local village’s Hogmanay celebrations. There’ll be an entire street of music, fireworks and dancing where you’ll get to ring in the New Year in the legendry Scottish fashion.

“But all mighty mountain sec, I don’t have any winter experience!”
Well fear not, for there is a 2 day winter skills course run by Pinnacle of Achievement available, which will give you all the skills you need to use crampons and ice axes in the mountains. This course is compulsory for novices and is subsidised by the club, meaning it is a bargain at £60 instead of £110! There are only 12 places though, so be quick!

The price for the entire week is£155 (plus £60 if you’re on the course). Sign up will start this Wednesday (19th November) at Redpoint so come and find me with a £50 deposit if you want to come! If you have any questions ask away! Places on the trip are limited, so get on it!

If you're at interested (which you totally are) you should get a ticket for the BMC Winter Skills Lecture on the 27th November in the arts building to hone your psych!

They'll also be navigation training, crampon fitting, and curry beforehand with dates to come.

GET PSYCHED!!!

Scotland filled up pretty quickly today. I can put y'all on the reserve list and I'll keep you posted if any places become available :)

Shoes: Wellies, obviously.
So psyched!

If anyone needs boots for Scotland and has UK size 8 feet, I've got a pair of Scarpa Omega boots (super warm) to sell - managed to buy 2 pairs last year, eBay fail...

I thought you might find this of interest. Unfortunately probably won't make it this year but it looks like you might have some luck with the weather!

Also this website http://www.sportpursuit.com/ has some fantastic deals on kit which change every couple of weeks. Just check when it will arrive. Have a good trip and happy wintering.
