The traditional thread. What are you climbing/fitness aims for the year? New Year’s Resolutions?

I would say - one of mine was to stop buying hot chicken from Morrison's every time I go to the peak. But it's too damn irresistible.

I'm yet to think of my own aims but will post when I do so.

Awesome! Long live the aims threads!

I want to do more:
Sport routes than in 2007 (7)
Alpine routes than in 2007 (7)
Trad routes than in 2012 (55)
Winter routes than in 2010 (13)
Boulder problems than in 2012 (445)

Catch up with Laurence on the number of routes done (repeats don't count) at the start of the year he was 367 ahead, Scotland and a quick bouldering session have got that down to 344.

Font 7C is still an aim
Font 7 on a roof
a 5 second front lever
No more pulley injuries and continue exercises to solve and prevent shoulder injury (at least 3 times a week).

I will probably add to this as the year progresses. Best of luck everyone!

Having started my job in September my outdoorsiness took a horrendous nose dive :| Why oh why did I not use being self employed more effectively :(

It is going to be tough to beat 2012 for certains things, but here goes (starting with the most important at the top)

Use UKC to log my climbs. (It'd be silly to set target I can't track)
Get to the Alps this summer. Do one "proper" AD- route - Cosmiques arete does not count.
Get indoors once a week at least.
More Winter weekends away. Inc. a route on the Ben.
More Trad leading.
Break into the HVS grade.
Be a more adventurous boulderer - or just get out bouldering.

With a list like that, I should get outside right now and make a start!

Spending a year in Australia meant I didn't shag for 14 months, but now I'm back and trying to give more structure to my climbing and hopefully see some improvement, so this is probably a good place to put down some aims for the first time (I'll add more at a later date no doubt):

- Boulder F6c indoors and out.
- Go to Font.
- Get back on a rope.
- Sit start and walk 30m+ on a slackline.

Other aims:
- Graduate with a 1st and become employed.
- Get 2 pointless answers in a single episode of Pointless.
- Repair the rust on my classic Mini and get it back on the road.
- Generate enough testosterone to fill in the gaps in a potential handlebar moustache ready for Movember.

Happy New Year everyone!

This year I would like to...:
~Break my no UK sport climbing rule and visit the Diamond (Will not be till September though!) and possibly Anstey's.
~Another day of trad would be good if it was some Peak Grit or Pembroke Lime.
~Boulder in Font - just need to book the gite and ferry!
~Decide whether to Boulder in SA or Sport in Thailand... Decisions.
~Go back to Rodellar (Oct half term or xmas holidays)

Grades: Oh, how we love them
~Couple of classic 7c's in Font
~Break the F8a duck? Is this too much to ask?

Non-climbing
    ~Move to London.
    ~Run sub 18 5K.
    ~Run sub 37 10K.

It's about time I actually set some goals for myself regarding climbing. My goals are:

-Lead a 6c clean
-Redpoint a 7a
-Go on an epic trip(s) in the summer (mountaineering and climbing)
-Climb 3 times a week

Let the training begin!

I think it's about time we had a half-yearly review :D

Do more routes than 2012 (476) Done 153 so far, 32.1%
Do 30 E1s, 10 E2s, 5 E3s Done 1 E1 and soloed 1 E2 - A bit out of the trad game, maybe more this Summer.
Get Barney Rubble in Devon Yes!! Got it on my trip to Devon, went relatively easily. Am so psyched for sport at the moment.
Boulder 10 7As, 5 7A+s, 1 7B Done 3 7As, 2 7A+s. Been close to a 7B, should go next trip.
Do something sick this Summer (Internship or Roadtrip or Alps) Got an internship starting in July.
Do a one-armer Aha may not do this one.

This year I would like to...:
~Break my no UK sport climbing rule and visit the Diamond (Will not be till September though!) and possibly Anstey's. - Did this in a big way. Anstey's is possibly the closest we have to Spain in the UK. Couple of the best routes I have done and in a perfect setting (unless you ask Laurence) with an ice-cream hut in walking distance.
~Another day of trad would be good if it was some Peak Grit or Pembroke Lime. None yet
~Boulder in Font - just need to book the gite and ferry! Had a great trip with some great people.
~Decide whether to Boulder in SA or Sport in Thailand... Decisions. Going to Croatia instead...
~Go back to Rodellar (Oct half term or xmas holidays) Maybe. I think Kalymnos is more likely at the moment though.

Grades: Oh, how we love them
~Couple of classic 7c's in Font - No classic 7C in font but a few classic 7B+'s
~Break the F8a duck? Is this too much to ask?
Finally got the ball rolling. F8b next.

Non-climbing - This has all changed since the start of the year.
    ~Move to London.
    ~Run sub 18 5K.
    ~Run sub 37 10K.
