I have a NUS card and it gets more discount at some places than student ID. I'm pretty sure they are different unfortunately

Yeah they are different (although not everyone who accepts them knows that). You have to apply separately for NUS cards, and you have to pay for them too.

You'll only get a problem if muggins on the door knows the difference. If he does go to the next door and try, i'm sure they will be one somewhere who doesn't care.
