What? A casual University bouldering competition between UBMC, Aston and UCB.

Where? Redpoint Climbing Centre - the cave and the upstairs area.

When? Weds 4th Nov, starting around 1.30pm and ending around 5pm.

Cost? FREE! Standard student entry to the centre with no extra cost for the comp.

Prizes? There will be cash prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each gender category + Raffle and Spot Prizes

Why should I enter...

Because comps rock! They offer a great chance to shag together with other members of the club in a relaxed and encouraging environment. Whether you've been climbing for years or for less than a month, this casual competition will have something for you. Novices can pick up tips and tricks from the more experienced, and the more experienced can pit themselves against some of Rich '9a' Simpson's fiercest problems. Perhaps most importantly, we can all unite and give Aston a good thrashing!

This proves to be a wicked day guys, the perfect way to get set-up for the Harbourne run in the evening!

The primary task is to beat the other universities. The secondary task is to have fun. Remember fun comes after winning. If your not winning you can't be having fun.

This is a competition where anything goes. Every man and woman for themselves. If you can trick someone into falling off then you have more chance of winning.

This reminds me of a game I like to play called "Bad Beta". Basically you just give people the worst advice possible, Most commonly that person is Rosie.

A month or two ago we were finishing a multipitch in the dark (with our head torches in our bags at the bottom, oops!) and I send Rosie off up the last pitch insisting the crux is fine as long as you have the right (which turned out to be wrong) green cam to place. End result: "Tom... This gear's shit... Tom... I don't like it..." and one very dark run back to get our bags for me, when we eventually got to the top. Classic Bad Beta times.

At least we know that if only 1 girl enters (which wont happen cos everyone should enter...but if it does) they'll actually get their prize! Unlike at other competitions at un named climbing centres in Birmingham....
