As in ropes, not shots.
For my birthday, I'm thinking of buying myself a rope, and I was very keen on the idea of getting doubles so that I can easily do routes with traverses and absail off multipitch sport climbs, which I hope to do. Then I remembered that they wouldn't be too good for leading indoors, or single pitch sport routes.
What I would like to know is: Why exactly can't you lead on one double? When while you're leading on doubles, you will normally fall onto one rope. Also, if it is because of abarasion to the sheaf, because they will be my own ropes, would it work if I kept track of which rope I used last and alternated leading on them indoors and on single pitch sport routes so that each recieved the same amount of abrasion?
