Hey ho!

A little reminder to any 'final years' before you float off in to the big wide world about the delights of the Midland Association of Mountaineers. During your time in UBMC you've been an associate member of the MAM. You may well have enjoyed the delights of Glan Dena or Low House during you time in the stoats.

Why not continue to benefit from the MAM and all it has to offer by applying to be come a full member. You can continue to use the MAM huts, and the many huts of our kindred clubs as well as providing a great way to stay in contact with friends for years to come. Joining in the first year after you graduate will mean you can avoid the requirement to pay a joining fee with only the annual subscription being payable.

Requirements are to have attended three MAM meets, two of which must have been in GD or LH UBMC trips count. Also Annual Dinner is a joint meet so can count as one of the three.

Don't worry if you've not been to the huts twice it should be possible for you to attend a meet as a guest in order to reach the required number.

If you want any further information please get in touch.

Do the LH and Ogwen UBMC trips count as MAM meets? If not, where can we find out more about MAM meets?

Good question Brain!

Yes, UBMC Glan Dena and Low House trips are technically joint meets so these would count.

If you need to get your quota of trips up in order to join, as a member of the UBMC you can come on any of the MAM meets (since you are an affiliated member). The Meets calendar can be found here: http://www.themam.co.uk/index.php/meets-calendar-mainmenu-41 although on closer inspection, it looks as though this is missing some dates (I'll find out why).

A couple of good ones coming up soon that I'd recommend are:
* Martin Lane's Low House trip on 14/15th June (Martin is and ex UBMC Gear Sec and general all round nice guy) - He usually makes a very large Chilli for everyone :D
* Tom Murray's Sunshine Meet at Glan Dena in mid-September (Tom is an ex UBMC President - you may remember him getting mostly naked at Stanage 2013 and doing 'Commander Says')

Both these trips are well attended by 'young', enthusiastic, super-psyched UBMC old gits and are always a good laugh!

If anyone is interested in joining but you are unsure on anything, just let me or Ian know.
