WHAT: BMC Winter Essentials - Skills and Techniques for the winter mountains
A talk as part of the BMC (British Mountaineering Council) tour, presented by Rob Jarvis (MIC) and Dave Hollinger (Aspirant Guide and MIC). The talk will cover essential skills for exploring the winter mountains, including equipment and clothing, navigation, route planning, avalanche awareness, ice climbing and much more. There is also a free prize draw which is likely to include decent prizes from Lowe Alpine and Asolo.

A group of us went to this last year in Stafford, and found it very helpful and informative. They also show lots of pretty cool photos.

WHEN: Wednesday 21 November @ 1930

WHERE: Guild Council Chambers, the Guild

HOW MUCH: £3 Advance Tickets, available from any Committee member at the wall. Alternatively contact me (PM/Phone) if you can't get to the wall.

MORE INFORMATION: Take a look at the website: http://www.thebmc.co.uk/Feature.aspx?id=2169

This is very much worth going to if you are considering going on our Scotland Winter Mountaineering trip -more information here

Following this I expect we will be having some drinks in Joes...

I can concur - well worth going to. I would go, were I not out of town. I'd also recommend it even to those who went last year, since it's always good to get a refresher on this stuff.

Tom do you have no friends where you live? You do seem to spend an inordinate amount of time up here, have you considered a job in Birmingham?

I'm sadly gonna have to give this a miss as I have a test and 2 bits of coursework due the day after :( but I went to it last year and can confirm it's definately worth going too!

Tom does have a job up here - he's our fourth player for halo. He also works very hard keeping his lady friend happy. Is that not enough?

Very hard.

Also, being on full time Halo multiplayer emergency standy-by (or "on-call" as the medics would view it) is a draining activity.

Lucky I'm man enough for the job, thats all i'm saying.
