Does anyone have a good idea about how I could get back to brum for the 5th?
Disappointingly I have lectures on the last day of the trip and an exam the day after....

Find out if anyone else wants to go but has to come back early. I was in the position last year so a car of us went home early. Perhaps chat to JCB?

The train is a possibility - you could get dropped at Aviemore station (shouldn't be a problem...it can be en route to climbing). Medic's have got the train up and down before now - and it can be cheap if you book in advance. Do it :-)

The Scottish Avalanche Information Service (SAIS) has come alive again - check it out for regularly updated snowy pictures :-)

Cairngorms Report Sat 27/11/2010

Summary: Bloody brilliant, expect amazing conditions!

I was up in Scotland this weekend on the Cairngorm Mountain. Things look decidedly good. They’ve just had and are continuing to have a lot of snow right down to Aviemore. With the predicted long cold spell this snow will consolidate nicely to leave great climbing conditions and plenty of snow for the early season trip. At the moment the snow is too deep and powdery for safe climbing, avalanche risk is ‘high’ on most slopes down to 600m, but the skiing opened this weekend (about half the resort but that’s still amazingly early) and the quality of the snow is ace.
