Maddie has decided to step down as treasurer of UBMC, which leaves us with a gap to fill on the committee. The rules for this from the guild are quite strict so we're having an EGM (extraordinary general meeting) to elect a new treasurer on Monday 12th November at 8pm in the Munrow Lecture Theatre. The format for the EGM is exactly the same as the normal elections we have every year, except we're only electing one person. Candidates are nominated and seconded (on the night) and then give a short speech detailing why they want to be treasurer and why they should be elected, after that there is a chance for questions before the vote. Clearly its important to that its done properly but it's not meant to be intimidating so don't let the speech put you off if you're considering standing.

Anyone who is a full member of the club - ie a student - can stand, if you're interested then email me and I'll send you more information about everything that the position involves. Everyone who's a member of the club is allowed a vote and the more people that come on monday the better - the person who's voted in will have a lot of responsibility so the more people who help to decide the better! If you've got any questions about what exactly will happen or what the treasurer does feel free to email or phone me ([email protected]/07786247625)

Will the treasurer position be held until the AGM or for a year from now?

I will check with James on that MILF-Hunter.

It would be great if as many people as possible could come to this; as James said, it is an integrale part of how the club runs, which affects everyone really! It will not last long with only one member to elect, and will not by too dry and boring I promise!

It will be held until the AGM in Feb.

It will definitely be a good experience for any of you who have considered being on the commitee next year, as you'll already know the format of the elections. It will be straight after the climbing session at the Munrow, so we can all go straight on from that.

I echo katie on that point, Feb AGM won't seem nearly so scary when you see who 'not as intimidating as you thought' it is.

Do come to this if you can - your vote can only be counted in person.

I will be president.

UBMCs new treasurer is Tommy - well done!

Well done Tommy and Mark, was good to have a contest, rather than a lame coronation.
