I can highly recommend this week long, legendary UBMC trip. After all I’ve been on it 4 times, each as good as the other! It’s a fantastic chance to experience Scottish winter mountaineering in my favorite part of the Cairngorms.
There’ll be activities and opportunities to suit all tastes of those who enjoy the outdoors. To list a few: ice climbing, mountain walking, lower level walking, mixed routes, gully climbs, glissading, skiing / boarding / cross country…you name it. + a great time socially. We usually go to Granton-on-Spey for Hogmanay for a party with live music and dancing on the streets.
What’s more it’s cheap, really cheap for a week’s trip and 2 day course (thanks to UBMC and the guild for subsidy). Most of the specialist kit you can borrow from the club or friends. Other items you can get affordably from Millet, TK max, 20% off at Costwolds etc.
The winter skills course is excellent, ran by two ML/MIA chaps, its takes you through the basics of wintering for those new to snow: how to use ices axes and crampons, snow hole and shelter digging, walking and climbing techniques etc.
do those activities include bouldering

just kidding really wish I could make this trip but its going to be the third year in a row i have to turn it down unfortunately just dont have the cash at the minute
