What is a trangia? dont know about camping yet, was thinking if we get there on friday maybe we can sort something out as everyone else is gonna b turning up late, be it wild camping in swanage or maybe finding somewhere on the island, wich will be hard to find, or whether we find a camp site. if we find somewhere in portland we can do sport there saturday, dws in the evening and go to swanage on the sunday, but if we go swanage on friday then do trad there on sat and sport on the sunday, hows that? does anyone have a preference or any ideas for camping? if not i can use my expert wild camping spot finding skills from europe and try and scope somewhere out for us?
should i bring my stove if i get some gas for it, so we can cook on the saturday, or did people wanna go out for food?

i still have your saucepan lid josh :)
if we wild camp nr swanage on friday night then all we need is a place to meet in the swanage area. Il leave that to taks :)

w.r.t portland, generally the campsites get more expensive the closer to portland you get,
theres one called pebble bank thats about 10-15 minutes away, and thats £20 for 2 people a tent and a car (per night) it does seem very expensive tho, so i was wondering if anyone whos been to the area before could share a little wisdom?

The cars coming down from birmingham are gonna be quite full, so in order to save space for them i still reckon josh s, taks and coops should all bring their tents, plus one more from brum (say jakes) that way weve got josh's spaceship, crackacs' house, and the other two(which i couldnt think up descriptions for), but if people are confident that they can fit everything in their cars then keep things as they are.

Also Josh D, apart from my stuff I have 2 racks 2 ropes and 5 helmets to come with us, an il txt you about the gear we need from the cupboard tomorrow if thats ok.

hey guys just checked distance for some of the campsites to Portland the West Fleet one is apparantly only 13mins away from portland so any of the 3 near there should be fine....what do people think?? we will probs need to book.

also i think it will work out cheap if we had fewer tents as prices are roughly £20 per tent and car for 2 ppl and then add at £5 per extra person. also groups of more than 2 tents need to book....also as we are a group we have to pre book and there is a £20 a head deposit for good behaviour.
and the slight snag if that the tents have to be up by 10pm and we might not get there in time as we won't leave brum till 6....

anyone else got any thoughts???

Gonna go shag on portland as i only ha\ve a sport rack and we dont have a guide book but i can remember some places and know some routes that it might be nice to do if the weather is good. If we camp anywhere on the friday night we will need to book as we are arriving late, so i reckon we should find somewhere to wild camp, which josh and i can do, and then maybe find somewhere to stay on the saturday night. if you could text me directions to dungecroft quarry, its a climbing place i think on portland. i went there last year and i reckon we may be able to get away with camping there but would need to check it out in the day and see if it is suitable. dont write directions on here tho, if u cud text me them it would be way better. andy i can give u a text when we are like 3 hours away from portland and maybe u cud meet us there?

Wild camping on friday night definitely sounds like the best option in my opinion. Way more flexible cos we won't have to book anything.

For sure rach, sounds good. I'll have a full rack and that new south west climbs guidebook with me, thats got a little bit of dorset stuff in it, so we could do anything really. It doesn't have dungecroft quarry in it though so its useless for directions to there, you'll still need to get them from somewhere else!

I think you're right. If we wild camp on friday, me and rach will scout out some places and see if they're suitable/maybe find somewhere for saturday too. We'll text you Andy when I get to rach's (which I plan to do about 11 ish) and its about three hours from there.

I have a massive tent too which'll sleep like 6/7 easily if we're keeping costs down paying per tent? just a suggestion.

o ok, i have a normal stove which i may bring just incase. yeah we will give u a shout andy :D a 6/7 man would be cool if we go to a campsite so bring incase but for wild camping. NAT ideal as it is probably massive in its bag! but yeah wild camping friday is ideal, and if u have a guidebook and a rack we could shag whereever on friday! the places i had planned are sport...very very easy but picturesque. depends what u boys are up for but we can discuss at a later time x
