I don't know a lot about sleeping bags, but I am in need of one.

I'm after a 2/3 season lightweight and very packable sleeping bag.
I want it to be synthetic because I can't be bothered to worry about it getting wet.

Any recommendations?

I would reccomend a down bag (yes i know its not synthetic). Some modern feather bags are waterproof and treated so that they dont retain water etc

My tip would be any of the mountain hardware firewalker series. I've had mine 2/3 years and never had any problems with it, plus their light and fairly cheap, about £40-50.

I have a firewalker 3 which is probably a bit hefty (goes down to -12!)
but you could look at the firewalker 2 or the ultralite version on their website.

i have the ultralight one, very small but wouldnt recommend sleeping outdoors in the cold in it

Downs warmer, but dont discount synthetic. These days you can get some warm old man made stuff. Theres good sense in synthetic kit sometimes, plus I havent been anywhere where synthetic hasnt been warm enough.

When I was in Antarctica and high altitude Himalayas (shameless namedropping) we used synthetic cos at the end of the day, you probably will f**k up and get them wet at some point. Check out Nanok, norweigan I think but import to here. Uberwarm.

I have a mountain hardware 3 season synthetic, think it's a Phantom, but has served me well, about £80. Remeber that down tends to pack well, but doesn't work well in the wet.
