Hi guys,
I am thinking about buying some proper high mountain boots, where do you think I shall go? My problem is that I really need quite lot of time to find a new pair for me (my feet are quite low volume, and they are also not exactly symmetric :) ) .. so I need some place with skilled and patient stuff.. any experience with Cotswold?

Thanks

the only place i know of in birmingham with a fairly wide selection of boots of indeed cotswolds. if you pick the right member of staff you should be able to get some good advice. remeber there's a 20% discount too! also you could use them to find the correct boot and size you want, note down the make and model, then find them on the net at a lower price.

I would be inclined to tend away from Cotswolds. Like most profit led companies the staff have no clue what they are selling (except one or two). There are other places in birmingham who sell mountaineering kit, Snow and Rock, they have a limited selection but the staff are slightly more competant.
Ideally your best bet is a stop off at somewhere like Joe Brown's on snowdownia, or maybe somewhere in one of the small towns in the lakes.

i would agree except that 20% off mountaineering boots is quite a considerable saving. if you can get to another cotswolds (preferably in b-y-c) then there can be some really knowing people.
if you need any help just ask i know quite a bit about boots and neil used to sell them : )
