Do you like to shag? Do you like going on holiday? Do you have a long period this summer when you're doing nothing?

Yes? Then The Alps could be the place for you!!

On Monday the 23rd of March at 7 o'clock in Joe's in the Guild we will be holding a meeting for all those interested in going to the Alps this summer, whether you've been before, or don't know your Eiger from your Dru, this meeting is open to all.

This meeting will give you a chance to:
Learn more about the Alps
Find people to go with
Figure out how you'll get there
Learn about Skills and equipment you might need
Talk to those that have been before
Get first hand information about the Conville Course!

If You've never climbed in the alps before it is Strongly recommended (with testimonials from the likes of M D Lane, Bruiser T, and Neil and Alice here) that you apply for the Conville Course.

This three day course covers all the basic skills you will need to begin your alpine careers, and is based from the campsite in the French alps where you'll most likely be staying. It's Basically the Best value thing you'll ever come across (at £62) and is important as it teaches skills you won't have come across climbing in Britain, and ends with an Ascent of one of the many classic routes of the area. However the Dead line for applications is the 27th of March so send your applications off as soon as possible (before the meeting ideally). More details and applications can be found here:

http://www.pyb.co.uk/courses/conville.php
For Further advice on applying talk to Alice, Neil, Alek, or Starley or alternatively talk to any of the older members who'll be able to point you in the direction of someone that knows.

hate to disappoint you cocky, but there wont be any winter climbing in the alps in summer. what you will learn are essential axe and crampon techniques which can be transferred into winter climbing :)

Thats awesome Tom. In my day all we had was Martin "Smelly" lane saying

"I've got some friends who know a campsite and have lent me some old books about the alps and told me some stuff... Shall we book some flights?"

If you can, you should deffo go to the alps - Epics are definately to be had.
