For anyone that dosent know through facebook, Me, Mark, Neil and Jaq are having a party here at 4 Rose Cottages (just off Hubert Road in Selly Oak) on Wednesday 14th November from 8pm til 6am if you're hardcore enough, to celebrate whatever we feel like at the time, like Jaq becoming a second year, again; Neil being able to run for the first time in weeks, who knows. Bring alcohol, because Me and Mark might well have drank everything in the house before anyone else gets here, but there might be some kind of cocktails or lethal punch left over, who wants to come!!

Tell you what Rich, you let me use your driveway and tools to replace my brake pads and I'll take the homebrew off your hands!

(hmmm, this seems a little unfair, I'm only winning, maybe I'll leave behind a barrel of coke/orange juice/medicines)

Are your new pads chamfered on the contact face? Damn ford! Ripping us off for 2mm of pad!

I have no idea what you just said. I haven't bought new pads yet, I don't know what or where to buy them from (ford dealer? halfords?)... I'm new and learning with this whole fixing-the-car-myself thing

hehe no worries. you can use drive/tools etc...
Im have only watched brakes being done before, not something i feel hugely confident at doing, purely out of paranoia, but am happy to help/watch/make tea...

How soon do they need doing?
Ill find where we got last set from

Basically ford redesigned the standard focus pads so you get the same thickness of pad but they wear faster  . Damn them!

It's ok, I happy to do attempt it myself, just don't have and space or tools to do it and sometimes I need help with stuff, such as removing the wheels because I'm not strong enough to undo the bolts with my mini-wrench, and other peoples opinions are always helpful. Do you have axle stands or anything? Apparently I need them.

I don't know mind, whenever is good for you, I'd like to get them done for next weekend, so either this weekend or on Friday as they are the only times I'm free for a long enough period of time incase it takes a while.

Yes, I do realise maybe brakes is something I should get done at a garage.... But I'm broke and don't wanna have to borrow more money off my parents and apparently it's not too hard a job.

Get yourself the good old Haynes manual for your car?!?! but i would strongly recommend gettings some experienced help with brake pads, as lets face it, if the pads fall off, your plain and simply going to die, or the other extreme, and the pads will jam and u wont get anywhere!

It turns out they don't need replacing quite yet, and yes, mr haynes manual is already doing his bit. Yeah, I can't really afford to run a car and eat, so it's gonna have to be done myself wherever possible or I'll have to get rid of the car. (I'm stupid and got a car with low fuel costs but high maintenance costs, so I really lose out as a result of driving all the time for people and clubs.)
