Okay, in contrast to my rather depressive post about where not to shag, moaning about my summer. I thought I might try and switch things round by getting people to list the best places they've climbed this summer, or even their most favourite route, not necessarily the hardest!

I know the summer is not yet over, however judging by the FBk news streams, plenty of people have been on fun-tastic climbing holidays. Now's your chance to boast! lol

Oh and have you fulfilled any of your climbing 'ambitions/goals' which you might have set yourself?


To get the ball rolling:

The Alps at the start of the summer was 'mint!' and "The Family Jewls" was my most fun shag. No idea of the grade!

Epic fail on improving my grade, but I don't really care atm, will start caring when I get nearer a crag!

Diocese at Chair Ladder was bloody good, and all the Lake District climbs with Mark, the best ones had to be Aaros and Mandrake. The Lakes are pretty fun when they're not pissing wet!

Best moment for me...
Sitting at the belay of Zelda, Wintour's Leap, in the Wye Valley. An awesome first pitch with a lovely comfortable ledge to belay from, 40m above the river and high above the trees. With the sun on your face and a view right down the river (and another 50m of cliff above you). Perfect!

Fortunately I've been rather spoilt for climbing this summer and I've got loads done. Some of my favourite moments:

Leading Slippery Slab hours before leaving Cornwall, this coupled with Commando Ridge and Terrier's Tooth radically changed my opinion on trad.

Flying past the crucial cam placement on flying buttress direct having pre racked the two sizes that were needed.

Begging Katie to let me do one last VS (as it was almost dark) at Stanage and sneaking in Queersville, - She was not very happy having to second this in the pitch black

Being absolutely shit scared looking up at Scoop Wall at Stoney. I've never been so scared before a shag.

Moving from a two finger pocket to a jug about 20metres up, *sigh of relief*, until the jug snapped off, then managing to hold the two finger pocket and prevent the fall.

Rock, Paper, Scissors to decide who jumped off the top of the cliff at Swanage. Brilliant.

Sitting above Hydro on the little orme wondering where the hell it was for about 30minutes.

1. Watching cocky retrieve an amazing entanglement of gear from a MASSIVE crack I'd rather appallingly shimmied up, as I ate my lunch (including chocolate buttons) at the bottom with Tess and Louise, whilst Michaf C screamed in pain from the top. Oh, and then being amazing at poker.

So many things....

- Boulderin at Rubicon, glorious sunshine, beautiful backdrop and some kickass problems.
- Soloin generally, best thing ever, done so many brilliant routes this summer.
- P.M.C 1 at curbar, easy but a crackin route with a fat flake about 14 metres up where u can just lean out n take in the exposure.
- Tickin the walnut traverse below baslow edge, first grit font 6c!
- The cheese n ham toasties at the outdoors cafe in calver
- The beer at the fox house
- Oh n not dyin on moyer's buttress yesterday

I now realise that I haven't actually done much climbing at all this summer...
But bouldering on the beach in Salema (Portugal) was good fun.
Other non-climbing-related summer highlights:
- reaching Tynemouth on my bike 170 odd miles down the line.
- being the youngest female rider in the White Rose sportive, and finishing.
- TAKING Michaf C CYCLING, he loved it.......

A 40 mile cycle in the rain on a bike owned by someone a fair bit shorter than me was NOT one of the highlights of my summer!
