The AGM will take place on Wednesday 9th March in UG04 in the Learning Centre from 6pm.

It's really important that as many of you as possible come to this. This is when you decide who runs the club next year.

Candidates will need to be nominated and seconded by members of the club. There will be a round of speeches on why you would be the best person for that position and a round of questions will follow. Speeches for the non-executive roles don't have to be too long at all so don't let that put you off.

Once this has finished candidates will leave the room. The vote will then take place. ALL VOTES WILL BE ANONYMOUS.

If you are interested in running come and have a chat with the respective person.

UBMC Committee Positions

President (Executive Position)
The president has overall responsibility for the club; he or she chairs committee meetings, supports the rest of the committee and generally oversees everything that goes on.
Talk to: Alice M

Vice-President (Executive Position)
Works closely with the president in the role of generally looking after everything and steps in as president should he or she not be available for any reason.
The VP is also responsible for running Pembroke/Cornwall, the clubs health & safety and training courses.
Talk to: James B

Treasurer (Executive Position)
Responsible for keeping track of the UBMC money for both guild and AU accounts – a very important role. The guild provides treasurer training so you don’t necessarily have to know the ins and outs straight away, but a methodical approach and good attention to detail will help.
Talk to: Josh D

Secretary (Executive Position)
Takes minutes at committee and general meetings, deputises if both the president and vice president aren’t available. Records membership details and deals with the BMC.
Talk to: Chavacs

Social Secs (2 positions)
Social secs organise our fortnightly socials which can be (more or less) anything they choose,
although a good balance between alcoholic and more chilled out socials is always a good way
to go. They are also responsible for running Stanage and the Annual Dinner.
This is the most creative position on the committee and the sky is the limit as to what you can achieve.
Talk to: Josh S or Lawrence B

Gear Secs (2 positions)
Responsible for buying, maintaining and retiring the club gear as well as ensuring gear its availability for trips and Wednesday afternoons. Know what on a rack and love organising then this is the position for you. (if you don’t know what is on a rack talk to the boys).
Talk to: Chirs S or Harry T

Mountain Sec
Runs the Scotland trip and organises any other winter climbing related events that they want to bring in. In charge of getting a love of all things cold and white into the club.
Talk to: Jake L

Indoor Sec
Responsible for running our indoor competitions and taking care of our new and flourishing AU team. Must be able to crush diamonds with a full crimp.
Talk to: Jack B

Web Sec
In charge of maintaining our amazing website. Must be fluent in html coding and be nifty with building websites. Must talk to Phil before the AGM if interested.
Talk to: Phil

!!!See you all there!!!

**EDIT: There will be the standard UBMC 'Post AGM' curry afterwards! :D **

I can bring the love of some warm white things into the club does that qualify for mountain sec?
Also does it have to be crimping to crush the diamond or can i pinch them instead?

Bon... well for those who do not see me at Red Point (late evening), I shall be at Lowe House if you wish to quiz me over the VP position, and hopefully, on the next club social. If you really want to show your initiative, drop me a text & I'll get in touch whilst I'm in the office. :)

VP is typically the first of the new committee members to run a trip, better be ready to hit the ground running! :P
