Hi,
I am planning a trip on the first weekend in December and I seek your advice on a few points:

- is it too late in to do some scrambling (without crampons for the top bits)?
- if so, any recommendations for some good hillwalks? Preferably with a possibility of some climbing nearby..

probably Whales... we are driving from Cambridge and Oxford + Brum

you can walk/shag/scramble all year round without crampons and ice axes...it just depends on the conditions which vary day in/day our region to region. N Whales in the next few week would normally be fine, but the midterm forecast is for snow and to remain cold so that may limit were you can safely go without said kit. visit www.mwis.org for detail mountain weather, snow and avalanche forecasting. In N Whales I'd recommend talking to Tom G about where to go, he knows it! Most places I've been are great, snowdon massif, triffan area, glyders, carnedds etc. !!!
