Applications are now open for next winter’s Jonathan Conville Memorial Trust Courses

The Conville courses are aimed at those who have not done any sort of course in the Winter Mountains before, but are experienced summer hill walkers and climbers. These courses are specially designed to give a sound introduction to the techniques needed for moving on snow and ice - both in Britain in winter and in the Alps. The course will include use of crampons and ice axes, belaying and rope work, avalanche assessment and other topics related to Winter Mountains.

7 - 9 January 2011
10 - 12 January 2011
14 – 16 January 2011
17 – 19 January 2011

Cost
Courses cost £75 and the course fee includes two nights accommodation, food and all essential in-course transport.

The Conville trust runs mountaineering trips during the winter and summer to Scotland and the Alps respectively. Having never been on the Scotland one, I can’t really comment but if it’s anything like the alpine one then I’m sure it’ll be awesome!
It is worth taking into account also that those who are new to the experience will have the opportunity of a two day training course at the start of the Scotland trip run by ubmc.
