Skipton - the home of the great Ron Fawcett

UPDATE - car list attached

*Does anyone have a spare sleeping bag for Nathaniel? text him if you can help 07891724245

Right guys I hope you're as excited as I am for this weekend. What you will need is;
WARM AND WATERPROOF LAYERS
SLEEPING BAG
A CAMPING MAT AS WE'RE SLEEPING ON A FLOOR
CLIMBING GEAR
SOMETHING TO WEAR TO STRATA
TO PAY ME IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY! It's essential for everyone to have paid before we set off this evening. Come find me. Or call me 07770894794
Try and prepare yourself with food too, there are a couple of supermarkets near the scout hut but it'll be a big faff if everyone needs to do a weekly shop on Saturday. Bring enough for tonight, tomorrow breakfast and lunch and Sunday breakfast and lunch
... See you all at 6 :]

On the weekend of 2nd-4th December UBMC will be voyaging up to the quaint little village in the Yorkshire countryside that is Skipton. The weekend will be filled with all the great northern delights; Yorkshire gritstone, the dulcet crooning of the local farmers and a big slap up yorkshire feast (read: shepherd's pie) on saturday night. You'll also get the chance to see the best of Yorkshire's DJs and dance floors at the very exclusive STRATA (with whom I am currently negotiating some special stoats deals!)

We will be staying in the courtly chateau know as 'the dump' (that's it's real name!), which is the Skipton scout hut (so brush up on your knot-tying skills if you want a badge). It's right in the beating heart of this modern, dynamic village and so is only a stone's throw away from a dozen pubs and Strata itself.

Okay, so the plan is we meet up as normal at the Munrow centre (6pm sharpish), bundle ourself into buses and cars and get up there for around 9:30pm (just as the scouts will be finishing their weekly meetup). On Saturday you'll be shown around some of the finest rock in the north. Almscliff, Ilkley, Rylstone, Embsay (Ron Fawcett's birthplace), Widdop and The Bridestones are all on the list!
On Saturday evening I will be (attempting) to cook a big shepherds pie for everyone (oh, so let me know if you're a veggie or dairy intolerant) and then we will march forth with full stomachs and aching bodies to the main feature of the weekend - Strata.
On Sunday we will set about completing those tick lists of classic routes before making our way back to Brum.

It's gonna cost £30 (£20 for drivers), which includes everything, and it's gonna be good!
Please let me know if you can volunteer to be a driver as we need as many as possible.

Also, don't forget to bring camping mats as we'll be sleeping on the floor in the hut

There's 30 places. I'll post the 'who's going' list below;

Is there any chance I can come as an old git please? I'm just down the road in Leeds so can jump on a bus/train to get there.
I have wonderful (!!!) memories of the last Skipton trip...

Why am I not surprised to hear you say that, MILF-Hunter? haha.

I'm up for this as well, and can drive with my small, yet reliable, car. :)

Not in Brum, so get in touch on 078 632 70 464 to arrange payment details :D

This sounds sick, I'm psyched for Ilkley. Also it's nice to see Widdop's on the list, nothing like going on a big uni climbing trip all the way back to your hometown local climbing spot.
