The joys of copy and paste :D

Climbing legend and original Stone Monkey Johnny Dawes will be visiting Redpoint in December to hold a masterclass session on Saturday afternon and a lecture at 6.30pm.

There are only 16 places on the masterclasses, so book quickly if you'd like to see what the gritstone guru can teach you.

Neil Gresham says, "No one doubts Johnny Dawes' radical and unorthodox approach to climbing. If you'd told me I'd end up in being trained by him and improving my climbing by a grade within half an hour, I wouldn't have believed you. But then this is the essence of what Dawes teaches in his own Masterclass seminars; people just don't believe enough."

Lecture: £10
Lecture and climbing: £15
Masterclasses (including climbing and lecture): £30

Tickets are available from reception at Redpoint - you can pay in advance or on the door for the lecture, but you will need to reserve your place for the Masterclass.

For those of you who may not be familiar with Johnny, he's like the dave macleod of the 1980s. He put up the first ever E9, the so called 'Indian Face'. A route in north Whales with very few repeats due to it's seriousness.

Heres a video of Johnny doing 'the Quarryman', a 7a on slate (back in his prime mind).

Worth bearing in mind that this is uk tech 7a, and is thought to be around french (sport) 8a.

This should be truly inspirational, and is definitely not to be missed. For some background on him read this:

well excited!

Met him by the cromlech boulders after getting down off Crib Goch, couldn't waste an oppertunity to do some climbing with him and he is incredible. Was doing stuff way above my grade and I was in walking boots.

His response to being asked how to turn off fear: 'just stare at a plant growing out the wall and take a holiday from it all'. I may try this some time.

This video is really quite amazing. If you have 15 minutes give it a quick play.
