I know you all love it so stop that groaning.
I have to write a talk explaining christianity with the theme of

"Isn't life just meaningless"

for the conference I am going on next week. The Idea is I use Christianity to show that life has meaning. I was just wondering whether you thought life is meaningless or not, and why/why not. Please feel free to post!

In the objective theisistic sense of the word I think life is meaningless - there is no grand plan, humanities role in the universe will probably be obliterated by time and nothing will have mattered in some cosmic sense. But I do think there is a subjective meaning to life, and that is something we individually and socially construct. (The social part is where I'd differ from existentialists.)

Biological meaning of life is to procreate, pass on genetic information, genes traits etc...

In the short term the meaning of life would be to lead a worthwhile life (either in your own or someone elses opinion depends whih matters most to you)

In the long term all anthropological impacts and efforts will in the end turn to nothing when all the universe's matter and thermodynamics dissapear into an abyss of infinite nothingness.

But still you got to laugh dont ya :-)
