Reckon you’re a bit good? Want to better your friends and enemies? Perhaps you just want to c.limb stuff? All these and more are excellent reasons to come to this years Team Trials at Birmingham’s only dedicated bouldering venue, Birmingham Bouldering Centre. BBCs Manger and chief route setter, the legendary Ste, will be creating a plethora (around 20) of monumentally incredible and delicious boulder problems by which to test the skill of the stoat. But enough of the hyperbole, here are some facts...
The problems will vary from easy (V0) to hard (V8), so I urge climbers of all abilities to come and have a go. Whatever your level of climbing you should be able to find problems to challenge and inspire you, and it'll be a great introduction to competition climbing in a relaxed environment. The actual rules of a bouldering comp are really simple and can be explained on the day. So don't worry about that.
The results of the team trials will decide the members of this year’s bouldering team. The bouldering team consists of 9 people; usually 6 males and 3 females. We compete in a number of competitions across terms 1 and 2, and train on mondays at Boulder central, receiving specific coaching from BCs very own Jonny Argue. The team also get free transport and entrance to competitions included in their membership to UBSport and a discounted price on a BBC pass. I'll be putting up a separate post shortly expanding on some of these points.
Location, location, location: BBC, innit?[

Feel free to make your own way there, if you know the way there, otherwise taxis will be meeting outside the guild at 6.30pm. If you've been to any of our Boulder Central sessions in the last couple of weeks, it will be exactly the same, except when you get out of that car/minibus you'll be at an entirely different place (BBC).
A Quelle Heure? Monday 19th October, 7.00 pmCompetition itself will start at 7.30 pm, but I'd advise everyone to get there for 7.00pm. As I just said taxis at 6.30 pm from the guild.
$$$ £5Ste of BBC has graciously offered us entrance to the competition bundled with lifetime membership for the one-time only price of £5. Lifetime membership itself usually costs £5, which is, I should say, essential to c.limb at BBC, which no doubt you will at some point, so really you would be crazy not to come. So come
