For the stove get a pocket rocket. Packs down to nothing and you can kind of cook with them. Kind of.

Don't get a cheap tent like one by Eurohike or Blacks or something or it will not last very long. Maybe get a good quality one second hand? Like ebay or off ukc?

A stove that sits on the floor is great like the Primus Spider.

Tents wise I made a mistake of buying a tera nova ultra quasar as a compromise between a light weight tent I could carry but something big enough to use all the time. It's too heavy for wild camping, trekking biking etc and too small for car camping.

Get something sub 2kg or just get a big cheap tent.

A big cheap tent won't last long, also sub 2kg is nice but not mandatory as if you have a 2/3 man tent, presumably you would be sharing it with 1 or 2 other people so if trekking with it, you can easily split the load.

Vango do some relatively cheap and light small tents that are also fair quality

No KEEN FRESHER they'll be carrying the cooking stuff.

Just talking for experience trying to buy 1 tent to do lots of jobs will mean it does none of them well. Decide what you are going to be using it for then buy a tent to suit.

how is is one of these gonna help with cooking?... Suppose you could give one to a woman as a gift for staying in the kitchen...

No you give it the woman and she gets hot enough to cook on

Hi gear are cheap shit but it could be ok depending on how long you wanted it to last for? not very portable but if you looked after it it wouldn't break too soon. You would probably be best paying a bit more though.

Just search on ebay for tents then read reviews online, I just typed in vango tents to ebay and immediately saw 5 or so which would fit the bill well. Its just a matter of having a browse

Those stoves burn though fuel quick

Look for outer pitch first for if its raining.
