SCUIBL (Southern Counties University Indoor Bouldering League) is a set of competitions that our club takes part in every year. This year the dates and locations are as follows:
10th November 2007 - Bear Rock, Warwick
1st December 2007 - High Sports, Alton
19 January 2008 - Undercover Rock, Bristol
March some time 2008 - The Redpoint Centre, Birmingham
We have entered two mixed teams of 3 per round, one will be the "A" team and the other, the "B" team, both of which can be different people each time.
Team Selection
Primarily, we are interested in drivers being on the teams, as 6 people need to be taken each time, so we will need two cars each time unless someone is going with a big car. Then the people who are most likely to score high points out of those who want to go will be put on the "A" team, and the "B" team is for those who just fancy giving it a go, or people who might become the "A" team later on. It is open to everyone.
The Competitions are Fun!
The competitions are really good fun and there is absolutely no pressure on you from the club to get any kind of score, we're most interested in being able to send two teams each time as we always have done. I have been to quite a few competitions and have never felt daunted or under pressure, but have rather enjoyed myself, as everyone helps everyone else out, and it has been an opportunity to really focus on my technique.
Cost
£6.25 per competitor for each round, plus money to cover the petrol of the driver's car you use.
The First Competition - post now if you'd like to go!
The first competition is Sat 10th November, the week after the day trip and the same weekend as the Portland trip - therefore only sign up if you're happy not to go on Portland.
If you have any questions, let me know, and speak to people like Laurence, MILF-Hunter, Jacqui, Stina, Little Dave, Andy C, Jules and Rhi, as they have all taken part in SCUIBL.
