Shoes: Ones that hurt
On Wednesday 7th March 2012 we will be hosting a massive charity event, endeavouring to shag the height of Mt. Everest, all 8848m of it, at Redpoint!!

On the day we will occupy a little corner of Redpoint and teams will compete against each other to reach the summit first, and it's all in a bid to raise money for Mountain Rescue England & Whales. Plus there will be prizes!!!!

Mountain Rescue is an entirely voluntary body and rely on the support and generocity of the public to maintain this valuable community service. They have certainly been there for a few of our members when we've needed them. So dig deep people, this is a truely inspirational cause, and it is something that everyone can help raise money for.

To get involved:
1) Goto http://www.justgiving.com.
2) Under 'Start Fundraising' select 'Make your page'
3) Search for 'Mountain Rescue England & Whales' and select them as your charity.
4) Next select the 'Doing your own thing' option.
5) Name your page, select the 'Charity is not contributing' option.
6) Hit make your page and then continue, then goto http://www.justgiving.com/teams/ubmc and then join our team and you're good to go!

When collecting sponsor money, request that your sponsors donate to you, via our team page (to keep track of who has raised how much)

NB: If someone wants to donate to the WHOLE CLUB, then they can do that on this page:

This event was organised and ran two years ago and it was a massive success raising almost £2000!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is our aim for this year to surpass that total (get on it Keen Fresher!!)

Our very own Jake Lodge has put together a really fantastic promo video for the event. Check it out here!

There will be a limit to those who can enter the event so please post your interest below and I will use this thread to assign teams nearer the time. In the meantime get training peeps!!!!

Thanks very much for your generosity!

Sensei Chris

The planning and preparations were never finalised and it didn't seem financially viable, with a huge amount of money needed to even cover the cost of running the event. This meant that peoples generosity would not be fully rewarded as running costs would have to be covered before we would raise anything for charity.

The Everest event was hugely successful 2 years ago, with ALL money raised going to a fantastic cause and none being used to cover any costs due to the generosity of redpoint.

Redpoint bend over backwards to accommodate us and are always supportive in what we do - This Everest event is no different and so we hope to raise even more money than we did 2 years ago! To do this though, we need as much support from club members as possible to help raise money for Mountain Rescue!
