Do you fancy climbing twice a week? OR would you like a larger variety of routes to try? Why not come down to Creation Climbing Centre

From Monday 15th November we will start going down to creation climbing centre in Moseley. The cost of which is only £2!
More information here http://www.creationwall.co.uk/

They have a large bouldering centre and a variety of both leading and top roping walls!

Committee members will be present to sign people up for trips and to the club, however we will not be there to teach as such.
Feel free to use the forum to find people wo share taxis with or to find someone who is driving

and ask any committee member for more details!

not at all, redpoint know that we shag at another centre on another day. Our members most likely wouldnt go to redpoint on a Monday and it's just giving them another option

Also, if youl permit me to add, we do love redpoint, but we're not a redpoint club, its important for us to introduce as much climbing variety to our members as possible. we climbed a lot at creation last year and it was very popular indeed, its certainly capable of being just as popular this year, and it also gives everyone the choice of where to go instead of being somewhat restricted to one wall.

I'd also like to state that in my first year creation was the primary climbing centre to go to. I didnt even hear about redpoint untill the second term. However a variety of climbing is good for improvement. I have a redpoint pass and will still be going to creation on mondays (lets face it £2 is pretty cheap)

This explains a lot. Creation is great for people who need their ego's flattered by soft grading, and for people who don't believe that technique is important in climbing.

For those of you who weren't around when Creation was our main climbing wall, they put next to no effort into supporting and teaching our members during freshers. They refused to put on any events for us, and seemed to regard us as an inconvenience.

The club has a really valuable relationship with one of the best climbing walls in the country. Seems a shame to me to waste this.

I've only been around since last year when Redpoint was our main wall and we went to Creation on Mondays but in my opinion this worked well. I'm glad that the club last year didn't just stop going to Creation.

Regarding the grading, I think there are more important things to climbing than boasting about the grades you can shag. Yes it's nice to see if you are improving but if know that the grades don't match between different centres then I don't think there's a problem. Incidentally, of all the centres I've been to I think none are as hard as Redpoint.

I don't think we're wasting anything; as crackacs said:

I think the fact that there is a choice of which wall to shag at, is to combat exactly the issue we can see here on this thread, in that different people have different views. No one's saying we don't like Redpoint anymore, there's just an alternative if people wish. Quit all yo jiber jabber and just be happy that your local wall doesn't charge 10 euros for a session!!!

my post was tongue in cheek, but i seem to have caused a stir.
shag where you want with who you want when you want. I just dont think the club (committee) should have much to do with creation, because of history with them, other than tell members of its existence. but may be over the past few years they've got better?

Phil, you'll be happy to know that ftr isn't truly like ukc until some nobber corrects "members of UBMC get the benefitted as much as possible." to "members of UBMC get benefited as much as possible." and then goes on to use this as an argument against them.

Creation really isnt as bad as your making it out to be, yeah the grading is a little off, but there are a lot of good routes and you can still have a good time there. And seeing as theyve lowered the price to £2 and are talking about setting up competitions for us, they obviously don't see us as that much of an inconvenience!

i remember back in the day when they lowered their price for students on one day a week, like they're doing now, i also remember it didn't last long, don't be surprised if the same thing happens again once their generosity runs short in 2 months

well i think we should give them the benefit of the doubt for a while and hopefully the same thing wont happen again. I didnt start this thread to get everyone converted to creation! I was just giving them another option. For anyone who is planning on going, I have 3 spaces in the car for tomoro evening. text me if you wanna go.

lolcats. I'll still be rolling to Red Point on a Monday [quality over quantity], so if anybody wants to join me on the train ride. Let me know.

Judging by how my lecture times work, it'll be around 6/7ish that i'll be heading out.
