Thats it. After being thoroughly discouraged and upset by the high flying claims, aims and achievements of the modern UBMC, I despair and create this topic for all in the same sad position.

The girls are young, fit, good-looking, skinny and talented and way better climbers than I could have even dreamed of being.

The boys young, fit, mostly hot, strong and all thrashing 6cs and E1s all over the shop.

UBMC has entered a new (or returned to an old) era of fantastic climbing determination, dedication and talent. And now, as an official Old Git (finally) I am sad to admit that we (you know who you are, generation 06/07) can no longer call ourselves UBMC greats. The 90's kids have stolen the crown and taken over the rat. Feed him well children, feed him well.

I think some old git climbing is in order (ie involves only good weather, normal un-scary grades and a good amount of cake)

I'm too young to be an old git! The day it was official half my hair fell out and my doctor told me I needed a hip replacement

I wholeheartedly disagree Jules.

Whilst it is true that the climbing being done at the moment is impressive in its ambition and achievement, I still consider our year(s) some of the best the club has seen. The focus is changing, but I think what our committees achieved was immense, and let's face it, laid the way for the revolution that is occurring now. If you have any doubt, have a look again at some of the trip reports and photos from the years we were on committee.

Don't despair, but feel proud that we played our part in the continuing story of UBMC and Feed the Rat.

Now the NHS on the other hand...

I take comfort in the fact that I've now been climbing longer than the new people have been alive.

Well, totally by accident I stumbled across the new stoats site. Are any of my era around? That'll be a 2001-2005 era?

Hugs and loving,

Jonny there is always someone around that knows you. I met a man this year Rob Chidley who went to school with you apparently. It seems that everyone knows you.

Rob Chidley!! How cool! He's such a lovely guy. 'Tis true that we went to school together - he also went to Brum uni, I believe. How did you meet him?
