Why do all the posts keep getting deleted?

I'll be going down early with the G man for fishing and surfing.

I believe Mr Duddy would be interested in going down early, possibly get in contact with him?

As long as you guys heading down early can fill your cars as much as possible, we shouldn't have a transport issue. :)

Or ram them full of gear so that we can fit 5 people into cars when the majority head on down?

Just a little reminder,

I'll be collecting money of people tomorrow at Red Point, I'll be there from 1 till about 5.

Please let me know what dates you'll be going when you pay me and if your driving. :wink:

E.g. If it's for the whole 8 days. That'll be £25 + (£5 for 6 climbing days) = £55

If you can't make it then, I will be on Uni campus throughout the next few weeks, so just text me if you wan't me to collect money off you.

Also any other committee member will be able to take money off you if I'm not there [e.g at creation], but try getting in touch with me first. :)

I don't think I ever said I would be staying late? I need to be back for Gradball on the 17th. I can go in any car that is leaving before/on the last day. Alternatively I can drive myself, but that would be another car arriving early?

Just looked in my guide book and it seems that there are only 2 chapters out of 12 that aren't in the range or bird banned. One of which is St.Davids which is a bit of a drive from Pembroke.

Good work Jay. I'd been meaning to get my hands on a guide and see what is left open. Out of curiosity, in those two chapters how many climbs and of roughly what grades are we left with? It seems if there is that little to do Pembroke might not be the ideal location.

There are 92 routes at St.Davids (19 up to severe; 36 HS-HVS; 25 E1-E3) However these are spread across 5 areas with an average of 3 'up to severe' in each area. There are 3 different car parks, and I think it would definitely get crowded if there were more than 3 pairs at any one of these crags.

The only crag in Pembroke accessible during the week is Mother Carey's, which would be haven for anyone leading E1 and above, 40/48 routes. (It's all really steep and looks amazing) However there are only 8/48 below E1 and 2/48 are severe or below. Certainly not ideal for a beginner.

From what I've seen in logbooks from previous years, most of the time has been spent around St.Davids in the week?

Crags that are closed M-F;

Filmston Bay, 19routes;
Mewsford, 34routes;
The Castle and Rusty Wall, 73routes;
Saddle Head, 21routes;
Bosherton Head, 40routes;
Huntsmen's Leap, 46routes;
Stennis/Chapel, 62routes;
Trevallen, 44routes;
St Govan's, 100routes;
Mowing Stackpole, 58routes.

How frustrating!

To be fair, looking at the guidebook, St.Davids has more routes 'up to severe' than anywhere else in Pembroke. So is probably the ideal place to take beginners.

Just need to hope that no other universities have organised a trip to pembroke that week!!

Blasphemy!

To be fair, 2 and 3 years ago we couldn't shag at any of those places on the range monday - friday either, and yer we ended up going to St. David's a lot. I don't think I've ever had to queue for a route because of someone outside our uni club being on it either, so hopefully that'll still be the case this time. Theres enough around St. David's to keep people occupied, but for a few days i'm planning on being at Mother Scareys.
