as our UBMC representative for the fantastic Redpoint Climbing Centre I have a wee message from the centre about the GRAND DAY IN!
Here is a message from the centre themselves:

'Redpoint have teamed up with Rock On, shag Magazine and La Sportiva again to create a whole day of fun climbing and competitions.
Inclusion is the name of the game;at A Grand Day In you don't have to be the strongest, fastest or best to win.
Yes, there are prizes for the winners of the bouldering, leading, speed climbing and Fig 4 competitions, but that's not all that it's about..
Top out on one of our Sponsored routes (don't worry - the grades are amenable!) and you'll be entered into a draw for the prizes.
There will be goody bags and a chance to try out the range of La Sportiva climbing boots as well as various spot prizes too.
Steve McClure and Neil Gresham will be here running workshops and offering general Jedi advice to all comers, and Neil will round off the day with a lecture.
Entry is £7.00 to all members.
Non-members can pay either £9.00 (including day membership fee) or £10.00 (including annual membership fee).
The event will use approx 20% of the main room so the centre will also be open as normal to anyone who isn't tempted to take part. What the hell, you can even get into the lecture for free, because we love you.
No need to book, just turn up. Any questions? ... you know where we are.
After the day's fun we will be having a party at the Barton's Arms, just a mile or so up the road. As well as all the usual legendary Redpoint party stuff with a bar till midnight, the Barton's also does great real ale and Thai food with the kitchens open until 10.30pm.
Free tickets for the evening doo will be available from Redpoint on the day, just ask!
